Tadasana with Hands Clasped Behind the Back

Tadasana is the mountain pose. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and clasp your hands behind you. Inhale and, as you exhale, gently pull the arms away from the body. Lift the sternum and observe the opening and expansion of the chest. Stay for several breaths. Then bend forward from the hips, letting the arms come down toward the head (SEE FIGURE 9-35). Inhale and slowly come up as you press the feet down. Change the clasp of the hands and repeat.
