Seated poses are calming and quieting, allowing you to reflect and be absorbed into the pose, infused with the breath and prana, and refreshed from the pose. In the Yoga Sutra, it is said that one should be relaxed, alert, and focused, steady and comfortable in a pose. In seated postures the buttock bones and the legs are the foundation from which extension, vitality, and suppleness of the spine are made possible.
