Inverted postures reverse the effects of gravity. Everything is turned upside down. The head, hands, or forearms are now the base of the poses, while the legs and feet lengthen up to the sky. Balance poses develop coordination, poise, agility, and grace, increasing strength and stamina. Focus and concentration improve. Pratyahara, withdrawal of the senses, is practiced, as you must go deep inside and become quiet to balance.
