Reliance on Experts and Sources

While this has been said before, it merits repeating. Even though you have researched your subject thoroughly and you can cite a number of independent sources and experts in the topic at hand, ultimately, responsibility for the veracity of the material and facts falls upon you. You need to substantiate the credentials of your experts and the reputation of your sources. If need be, confirm the accuracy of the biographical information provided by your experts. This is easy to do by accessing the Internet.

As for the resources you rely upon, try to use both online and traditional sources. Encyclopedias and other general sources of information make for a good starting point, but if you are writing about a specific subject, you will need to delve further. Finally, make certain that your sources are up to date.
