Sometimes a romance morphs with another genre and forms a hybrid with an even mix of romance to the other genre. Hybrids could include any variation of adding two unrelated romance subgenres and/or a non-romance genre, such as:

• Erotic paranormal historical romance

• Paranormal romantic mystery

• Romantic comedy suspense

The lines between genres often become blurred within the pages of a romance hybrid, as these books attempt to reach a wider audience than any single subgenre or genre could attain on its own.
