The Heart Grows Fonder

With each love scene, the characters' awareness of the connection between them becomes harder to deny. Generally, there is always one love scene when the hero and heroine both realize that the sex has stopped being casual and turned into something much more meaningful.

Find ways in each love scene to show these people coming closer. Show the trust between the characters getting stronger. Show how the pleasure of sex becomes less important and how pleasuring each other becomes the main goal.

A great example of how a sex scene can gradually change into a love scene appears in the movie Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts (Vivian Ward) plays a good-hearted prostitute who's hired by Richard Gere (Edward Lewis), a wealthy businessman, to spend a week with him. From the first time they sleep together, the reader is aware of the chemistry between them, both the emotional and physical chemistry. Vivian's rule of never kissing a john on the lips is constantly tested by Edward. When she finally does kiss him, it becomes clear that things have changed between them. Their relationship is no longer strictly business.
