Choosing Your Creative Method

Are you a pantser — meaning, you write by the seat of your pants — or are you more of a plotter? More specifically, are you the type of writer who creates the characters of a novel and then finds a plot to suit them? Or, do you create the plot first and then create the ideal characters to tell that particular story? Do you know? Better still, does it matter?

In the long run, the answer is probably no. After all, deciding how you will develop your plot — or even when — is far less important than actually developing a plot that is strong enough to sustain the reader's interest for the length of the novel.
