Silence may be golden, but it is when your characters talk that your readers listen. Putting words into your characters' mouths isn't always as easy as some new writers imagine. Unlike real conversations, your dialogue has to create curiosity, generate tension, build emotion, or incite laughter. Good dialogue jumps off the pages and heads straight to the heart of the reader like a jolt of adrenaline. Fortunately, writing snappy dialogue is as much of a rush for the author as it is the reader. So get ready to get creative.
