Having dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, guinea pigs, gerbils, and other household pets as clients makes for a challenging and interesting career. The majority of veterinarians work in private or clinical practice caring for dogs and cats. Some veterinarians work in zoological centers with exotic animals. These opportunities have many tiers. Veterinarians can specialize in dentistry, surgery, research, and other areas of animal medicine.
