Women in biblical narrative were seldom pious protagonists, but more often served as antagonists or characters instigating a situation that propelled the narrative forward. In some cases, they simply disobeyed their husbands. In other cases, they exerted pressure on men in their families to do something that was not right in the eyes of God. Certain women were deceivers; others convinced their husbands to deceive. Some women simply withdrew support or ridiculed and openly opposed their mates. These are their stories.
