The Scriptures preserve the stories of women in ancient times whose weaknesses and darker tendencies got the better of them, but they also include narratives about women whose lives were filled with goodness, grace, and love. A virtuous woman's love, it has been said, approaches the love of the Divine. Many women of ancient times hoped for good alliances that could develop into loving relationships. Some got their wish, while others made the best of their circumstances. Still others focused their hearts and minds on the will of God and took comfort in the presence of the Holy one in their lives.
