Grilled Ahi Tuna with Sesame-Soy Dipping Sauce
Ahi tuna is so meaty and tender, it deserves to be treated like the finest steak. So grill this to medium-rare at most.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 4
- 4 ahi tuna steaks
- Olive oil for brushing
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- ⅔ cup rice vinegar
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger, freshly grated
Rinse the tuna under cold, running water and pat dry. Brush with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
In a bowl, mix the rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and ginger together. Divide the mixture among 4 ramekins.
Heat the grill, and when it is hot, grill the tuna steaks directly over the flames for about 2 to 3 minutes per side or until medium-rare. Turn only once, halfway through grilling.
Serve at once, sliced on the diagonal, accompanied by the ramekin of dipping sauce.
