Blueberry Butter

Like the Apple Butter recipe, Granny Smith is the apple of choice for this recipe because of its tartness and texture. Try mixing this with softened butter to use on whole-grain pancakes or waffles.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 16; Serving Size ¼ cup

  • 4 cups peeled apples, chopped
  • 4 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  1. Combine the apples, blueberries, sugars, and spices in a large pot and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring frequently.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Pour into hot sterilized jars, filling to ¼″ from the top. Wipe jar rims. Cover at once with metal lids and screw-on bands. Let cool at room temperature.
