Strawberry Banana Smoothie

A classic combination, strawberries and bananas, forms the fiber-rich base of this breakfast beverage. Smoothies save the day when you are in a rush; if you are worried about getting enough protein into the family, toss in a tablespoon of wheat germ.

1 banana

1 cup frozen strawberries, cut up

1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt

¼ cup orange juice

1 teaspoon honey

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

  • Pour into two glasses and serve as a quick breakfast.

Bananas and Strawberries

Bananas are a very tasty source of soluble fiber. Strawberries have the added benefit of being high in both soluble and insoluble fiber in the form of pectin and seeds. Both are also higher in minerals than any other soft fruits.
