Hairstyles and Makeup
Everyone has seen the bride who decides to use her wedding to try out a new look that just isn't her — whether it's a new hairstyle or just too much makeup.
Ask your stylist to arrange a good time to get your haircut, body perm, or hair color so that it looks its best for your wedding. You don't want any unpleasant surprises on your wedding day! If your hair wilts or turns frizzy on a damp day, discuss a backup plan for a different style.
Do a test run with your stylist before the wedding, taking your veil, flowers, or whatever headpiece you're using with you. It's also a good idea to bring a photo of your wedding dress so you can both agree on a look that suits you best.
Think about consulting with a makeup expert at a counter in an upscale department store for advice on what colors and type of makeup to wear for different times of the day or season. You'll get some free advice on what looks good. Just be careful not to go overboard and buy expensive makeup you won't use again.
Alert
The groom should also be careful not to let his barber get carried away with the scissors and give him a cut that's too short just before the wedding. One bride confided that she never knew her new husband had such big ears — they were revealed when he got his new haircut a few days before the wedding!
