A Little Help from Your Friends

Most brides cannot justify or simply do not want twenty bridesmaids, but many feel that there is no other way to involve friends that they would like to be a part of their wedding. Well, no worries, there is much to be done, and delegating tasks will ease your workload while allowing others to contribute their talents and skills. Finally, don't forget there is another very important part of the wedding equation: the groom. The level of involvement from grooms is all over the board these days. Some grooms dive right in to the planning with the bride, and others prefer a laid back approach. Whatever the case, there are plenty of tasks he can help you with.

What They Can Do

Here are some ways to include friends and other special people in your wedding and wedding planning:

  • Act as hostess/hostesses on the wedding day, directing guests to their seats, providing necessary information, and assisting with the guestbook and gifts

  • Assist with addressing invitations and place cards

  • Supervise the gift table at the reception, making sure that gift cards are secured to the gifts

  • Make/assemble wedding favors and other small items

  • Read at the wedding

  • Act as a point person on the wedding day, ensuring vendors have arrived, the wedding party has their flowers, the reception is set up appropriately, etc.

  • Play a musical selection or sing at the wedding or reception

  • “Friendly” Task Tracker

If you are going to be enlisting the assistance of your friends, you need to keep yourself organized and on track. Use the following space to keep on top of the tasks you have “assigned” and the progress that is being made.
