What about the Parents?
Of course you cannot forget about the parents. This is a big day for them too. It is a time for them to enjoy the fruits of their labors, and be proud of raising a fine son or daughter. Assist them with finding an appropriate outfit to wear that complements the other members of the wedding party as well as the wedding's formality.
The Mothers
Your mother, along with your fiancé's mother, will probably spend a great deal of time worrying about what to wear. After all, as hostesses, they want to look their best for their children's wedding. Work with your mothers to find dresses that will allow them each to look their best and to shine on your wedding day.
The mothers' dresses don't have to match, but they should be complementary in color, style, and length. Traditionally, your mother buys her gown first, in keeping with the style and colors of your wedding. She then consults your future mother-in-law, who should follow your mother's lead.
The Fathers
The style and color of the fathers' clothes should match that of the other male attendants. They can be differentiated with their accessories. For example, if the groomsmen are wearing vests instead of cummerbunds, the fathers can wear cummerbunds. Alternately, if the groomsmen are wearing colored accessories to match the bridesmaids, the fathers can opt for simple black accessories. If by some chance your dad already owns a tuxedo, and wants to wear it, have him pull it out and try it on. If it is acceptable to you, have it cleaned and pressed and purchase or rent the coordinating accessories.
