During the course of the last century, apparitions of the Virgin Mary seem to be increasing in frequency. Apparitions, however, are not a new phenomenon. Reports of apparitions have circulated since at least the first century. Although these apparitions have varied according to the time in which they occurred, certain themes have emerged. This chapter will explore some of the questions surrounding apparitions, as well as some of the universal themes that come through them.
