Over the centuries, many criminals have committed or attempted murders using blood draining or drinking as a method of killing. Some truly believed they were vampires, others were looking for the thrill of the blood as a means of release. The Vampire of London, the Vampire of Hannover, and the Düsseldorf Vampire are a few of the infamous serial killers who used bloodletting and blood drinking to satisfy their murderous thirst. Whether these killers were truly acting as vampires or not is arguable, but their methods of carrying out their crimes is certainly drawn from vampire lore.
