Upon leaving office, President Clinton entered the public speaking circuit, including delivering addresses to international audiences where he discusses contemporary politics.

Hours before leaving office, Clinton pardoned 140 people. Of these, three of the more controversial pardons were: fugitive Marc Rich, wanted for tax evasion and whose former wife was a Clinton family friend and campaign contributor; Roger Clinton, the president's half-brother, who had served time for drug charges; and Susan McDougal, who had served her sentence but refused to testify about Clinton's role in the Whitewater scandal.
