An issue that's been a point of much debate and misunderstanding is the position of women and women's rights in Islam. Many people see Muslim women as meek and subservient, worthy of pity. However, the weak position of women in some Muslim societies does not represent the teachings of the faith of Islam. As a faith, Islam honors women, elevates their status and respect in society, and advocates their full and equitable rights.
