It doesn't happen to everyone, but for those who experience it, the “honeymoon period” in a child's diabetes can be a sigh of relief. During this period, the child's pancreas is still producing a relatively good amount of insulin and her blood sugars are easier to handle. For parents, it can be a time to learn, adapt to diabetes, and sometimes, slip into denial. This time is a double-edged sword.
