Parents use the terms discipline and punishment interchangeably, but there is a big difference. Discipline comes from the word disciple, which means a “pupil” or “follower.” As a disciplinarian, you need to serve as your tween's teacher. Good teachers demonstrate, explain, supervise, monitor, give feedback, and serve as role models. Those are the things your child needs most from you.
