For nearly 1,500 years, the Oral Law remained just that—an oral transmission from Rabbi to students, generation after generation. Throughout the centuries from Sinai until the recording of the Mishnah, there was never a time when the Jewish People lacked Sages who were able to transmit the Law from one generation to the next.
