The life force that creates and animates all of creation is an amazing phenomenon. When it manifests as a human infant, it has the power to sustain that infant and get all of her needs met. From the beginning, life knows how to communicate about hunger, discomfort, and other basic issues. It can call forth a corresponding action in adult humans to care for the infant, and meet her needs. The life force resonates with the adult, because it is the same life that animates the child.

The power of life is everywhere in creation. From eagles to earthworms, and from trees to toads, in every form life takes, it knows how to grow, eat, mature, reproduce, and get all of the needs met for that particular form. What a tremendous power! It is true for strands of DNA and for galaxies — everywhere in creation, the unfolding of life has the power and intelligence to know what it needs to do to be what it is.

The power of life created you and animates you in every moment. Without it, your body simply stops acting as a complete organism, and returns to the smaller bits of life that were gathered together as you. Most of what you are is life animating you, not the specks of physical matter it animates. You are the power that is life. In Chapter 2, you learned the Toltec wisdom about the light. The Toltecs knew that the universe, including you, is mostly space, filled with light. The light is life; it is the nagual that animates the tonal.

If you are life, and life has the power of creation, do you see the power you have? It is the unlimited power to create. It is unlimited power to be present in life, to enjoy creating and to enjoy your creation. This is the power that life gives each human on this earth, and it is available and accessible to everyone.

Because of the hurts and fears of domestication, most humans are unaware of the power they have as life. Their vision is limited, their world is distorted, and they have forgotten who they are. They live in an illusion of lack, in a body and world actually created by the very essence of abundance itself! They live in continual need, when in fact they are the life that fulfills all needs. And most heartbreaking of all, as victims, they feel powerless, when in fact they are the power of life itself.
