Instant Trouble

Faster than a parent can dash to the next room to answer the phone, run to the kitchen to remove burning food from the stove, or hurry to open the front door, a toddler can get into serious trouble. After an accident, the common parental refrain is, “But I only turned my back for a moment.” Parents never dream their child would eat Grandpa's medication lying on the table, or that their toddler, in the midst of having a bath, would turn on the hot water.

If you suspect your child has ingested something he shouldn't have, call Poison Control immediately. Keep the phone number posted by every phone in your home: 911.
