Pierogi
Pierogi are Polish dumplings that come in a variety of fillings in the freezer section of supermarkets. They can be boiled, but this recipe steams and crisps them using a baking method.
SERVES 4
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Spread soft butter in the bottom of a casserole dish and place the frozen pierogi on top in one layer.
Scatter the onions and bell peppers over the pierogi and pour the melted butter over the top.
Cover and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Serve with black pepper and sour cream.

Sometimes you will find sweet fillings in pierogi, often made by Polish churches for fundraising. Sweet fillings may be apricot, prune, or poppyseed.
