Mint Julep

Serve these minted whiskey drinks with Oven-Fried Chicken Drumsticks and American Deviled Eggs for a southern-style Kentucky Derby party.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 1

  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 mint sprig
  1. Place the mint leaves, bourbon, and sugar in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and mash the mint leaves with a muddler.

  2. Add ice and shake well.

  3. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice and garnish with mint sprig.

Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is a neutral sweetener often used in mixed drinks instead of sugar. Make it by bringing equal parts of sugar and water to a boil, then turn off the heat. Let it cool and use it to sweeten iced tea and mixed drinks.
