Mint Julep
Serve these minted whiskey drinks with Oven-Fried Chicken Drumsticks and American Deviled Eggs for a southern-style Kentucky Derby party.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 1
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 mint sprig
Place the mint leaves, bourbon, and sugar in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and mash the mint leaves with a muddler.
Add ice and shake well.
Strain into a tall glass filled with ice and garnish with mint sprig.
Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is a neutral sweetener often used in mixed drinks instead of sugar. Make it by bringing equal parts of sugar and water to a boil, then turn off the heat. Let it cool and use it to sweeten iced tea and mixed drinks.
