Tantra has a unique traditional jargon — you might call it a “language of love.” You will learn quite a few of these terms throughout this book (and in the glossary) but here are some basics that might be helpful before you go any further:

• Yoni: literal translation is “sacred space,” used to refer to the vagina

• Lingam: literal translation is “wand of light,” refers to the penis

• Polishing the Pearl: oral sex on a woman

• Playing the Flute: oral sex on a man

• Jewels: genitals

• Sexual union: intercourse

• Kundalini: spiritual energy or life force energy

• Devamani: testicles
