The Well-Rounded Student

Well-rounded students often have multiple passions or seem to like too many things and cannot just choose one to thread through their academic or extracurricular experience. Colleges and universities admit both focused and well-rounded students so one type is not preferred as an applicant to another.

Find some things you like to do and connect them in your high school years in a way that makes sense to you both in terms of a time commitment and your level of enthusiasm for the activity. You don’t need to be one-dimensional and too focused on one theme throughout your high school years; rather, pursue extra experiences to supplement, enhance, or further educate or expose you to your passion. You can love something more deeply and still be “well-rounded.”
