Travel Spell for Cats

Tools:

  • Homeopathic remedy Cocculus Indicus 30c

  • Bach Flower Rescue Remedy (see E-Fact on page 260)

  • 1 piece of amethyst

  • 1 spray bottle

  • Water

  • Lavender essential oil

  • 1 blue blanket, towel, or pad

  • The largest cage that will fit in your car

When:

  • An hour before you start your trip

Most cats hate to travel. They don't like confinement, the motion makes them feel insecure, and they get anxious when taken out of their familiar environments. This spell eases your cat's anxiety and makes the trip more pleasant for both of you.

You can purchase Bach Flower Rescue Remedy and other homeopathic remedies in most health-food stores. Flower remedies can also be ordered from the Flower Essence Society, online at www.flowersociety.org. Rescue Remedy and other Bach flower essences can be ordered online from www.bachflower.com.

About an hour before you start your trip, put one tiny Cocculus Indicus pill in your cat's mouth and make sure she swallows it. (If you prefer, you can dissolve the pill in water, then give her the water with an eyedropper.) Then put a drop of Rescue Remedy on her nose (she'll lick it off).

Place the amethyst in the bottle and fill it with water. Add a few drops of essential oil and shake the bottle three times to charge it. Mist the inside of your car with the fragrant water. Repeat this periodically throughout the trip.

Lay the blanket, towel, or pad in the bottom of the cat's cage. Gently place the cat in the cage and, if possible, position the cage so your cat will be able to see you while you're traveling. Send calm, loving vibrations from your heart center to your cat. Talk to her in a quiet, soothing voice. If you wish, play soft music while you're driving. If the trip will take more than one day, repeat the same procedure each morning before you start. (Practical tip: Get a collar for your cat with a name tag that includes your name, address, and phone number on it. Label the cage with the same information.)
