Life Cycles
Perhaps you've noticed that different years appear to have particular themes, qualities, or “flavors.” Some years tend to be filled with activity and change, while others seem comparatively quiet. A year of contemplation and study might be followed by a year of travel or career advancement. One of socializing may be followed by one of retreat and solitude.
As in astrology, the predictive side of numerology begins with your birth date. To find this baseline number, add together the month, day, and year of your birth to produce what's called your personal year. Let's say you were born on September 6, 1970. You'd do the math this way:
9 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 0 = 31
Again, you want to reduce the sum to a single-digit, so add 3 + 1 = 4.
From this point, you can track the cycles of your life to see what lies ahead.
Your personal year runs from one birthday to the next, not from January 1 to December 31. Personal years can be determined by adding the month and day of your birth to the current year or any other year you want to know more about. From the viewpoint of numerology, you experience nine distinct cycles, each lasting a year.
The following table briefly describes the essence of the nine yearly cycles and indicates where you are likely to focus your attention during those years.

Want to know what's in store for you in 2012? Add the month and day of your birth to the year 2012. Using the example above, you'd get 9 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 2 = 20, which reduces to 2. This means you'll be in a “two year” in 2012, which suggests that cooperation, partnership, and balancing the polarities in life should become priorities for you.
