Magic and magicians exist everywhere, and they always have. Archaeologists believe the animal images found on cave walls, such as those at Lascaux, France, may have been painted by shamans more than 30,000 years ago to bring hunters good luck. Medieval tradesmen, members of secret guilds that spawned the Freemasons, worked a type of magic when they created the famous rose windows for Europe's great cathedrals. Today, as in ancient times, magic is alive and well and being practiced in myriad forms throughout the world.
