Amulets
Amulets are used to repel an undesired energy, condition, or entity. Protection amulets are among the most common and ancient tokens. During the Crusades, ladies gave opals to soldiers to keep them safe in battle. Ancient Egyptians wore the Eye of Horus to protect them and placed this symbol in tombs to guard the souls of the deceased.
Many people cast a circle around the space where a talisman or amulet will be made, to prevent unwanted energies from tainting it. When you're finished, charge the charm by sprinkling it with saltwater and/or holding it in incense smoke for a few moments.
An amulet may be a single stone or a combination of several ingredients known for their ability to ward off harm. You can wear an amulet or place it where it will safeguard something you value. The Celts hung rowan branches and Middle Easterners put eye amulets at the doors to their homes to ward off evil. Usually it's best to make amulets when the moon is waning.
