Language teachers often point out that learning another language begs us to learn another way of thinking. The biggest challenge to the English speaker in learning Chinese is how to handle the tonal aspects of the language. The idea of tonality will require the English speaker to pay closer attention when listening to others speak, but acquiring Chinese is not as daunting a task as some Westerners believe.
