You probably remember your old English teacher warning everybody about overusing passive-voice sentences like “it was given to me by Eileen” (instead of “Eileen gave it to me”). But sometimes you do need to use impersonal constructions, and you may also want to know how to do so in Spanish. And whereas we rarely use subjunctive mood in English, it's a far more useful concept in Spanish, and worth learning about.
