Fruit Soup with Sesame

2 teaspoons sesame seeds

½ pound (8 ounces) cherries (Queen Anne or bing)

1 pint strawberries

½ pint blackberries

4 plums

¼ cup minced candied ginger

Cinnamon

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the sesame seeds in a single layer in a small baking dish. Toast for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat.

  • Reserve 6 cherries, 3 strawberries (cut in half) and 3 blackberries (cut in half) for a garnish. Pit the plums and cherries and slice into bite-sized pieces. Remove the stems from the strawberries and quarter them. Mince the candied ginger. Purée together all of the fruit (except the fruit reserved for garnish).

  • Divide the fruit mixture into the individual soup bowls. Add a faint dash of cinnamon to each bowl.

Serves 6

Garnish with the reserved fruit and the toasted sesame seeds and serve.
