Painting a Picture

Sometimes it's the little things that make a story seem real. When you look at a famous painting, the small details are what usually make its impact so big. Take the Mona Lisa, for example, it's not the background or the woman's clothes or the fact that she is smiling that make the painting so poignant. It's the precise degree of the smile that has delighted art enthusiasts for hundreds of years.

Take the same care with your story. Visualize the details of your characters — not just how they look, but how they feel and move and react. If you have a clear picture in your mind, it will be much easier to give a clear picture to the listener.

Details are great, but don't focus on unimportant details that distract from your story. Pick out the ones that are relevant, and use them to make your song more realistic.
