Location and Direction
Signing directions is easy. Now that you know your ABCs, here is another chance to apply them. When giving directions to go north, south, east, or west, you will use initialized signs. Sign these four directions:
North is indicated by moving the “N” hand straight up, skyward.
South is indicated by moving the “S” hand straight downward.
East is indicated by moving the “E” hand horizontally to the right.
West is indicated by moving the “W” hand horizontally to the left.
While giving or receiving directions, it is always good to know when you are going up, down, right, or left. Sign the directions for these four signs:
• Right is indicated by moving the “R” hand horizontally to the right.
Left is indicated by moving the “L” hand horizontally to the left.
Up is indicated by the extended index finger pointing and moving upward.
Down is indicated by the extended index finger pointing downward.
