Sewing Darts and Seams
As with the dress pattern from Chapter 15, your guide will probably tell you to begin with stay stitching and darts. If your skirt gets its shape from additional front seams, you will probably sew them next.
Remember to be aware of markings for slits or side pockets before you sew any of the seams. Also, if your skirt has a zipper, it is much easier to sew it to two garment pieces before those pieces have been stitched to others and even before the darts have been added. Add the zipper first, then go back and do the seams and darts according to the guide sheet.
If this is your first skirt with this pattern, don't trim and finish the seam allowances yet. Wait until the basic construction is done and try it on, in case you need to let out a seam.
