Weight Loss
Overeating is one of the most prevalent addictions in the United States today. With other addictions, such as smoking and drug use, it is possible after quitting to never go back to using those substances again. There is simply no possibility of that when it comes to eating. Eating is something that you must do on a regular basis to remain alive.
The Diet Label
Due to the rebellious nature of the conscious mind, it is very important to never label what you are doing a “diet.” The very nature of the word diet in many cases causes the conscious mind to rebel. If you think of the conscious mind as a creature of habit that does not want to change at all, you can see the resistance that occurs when hearing the word diet. Dieting means that you must change your eating habits. It requires you to eat differently than you have before in order to create a positive change.
Challenge Yourself
Although the word diet creates panic due to its sense of permanency, you may use the word challenge with little resistance. Take a moment to establish what the main food culprits are that keep you from being at your goal weight. Choose at least the top three. Most lists include foods such as pastas, breads, chips, fried foods, and sweets.
Essential
When reading the script onto your recording device, it can be advantageous to stress or accent some of the action words as a way to drive them home. You can do this by saying the specific words or word in a slightly louder or convicted tone similar to how some television evangelists do in their sermons to make a point.
Once you have determined your three biggest culprits, take one item on your list, such as potato chips, and challenge yourself not to eat any for one week. If you do not think you can eliminate it completely for a week, challenge yourself to cut dramatically the amount of servings you consume.
After the first week, challenge yourself with a different item for another week. Continue to do this for at least three weeks with other items on your list. Since this is only a one-week challenge, and you are able to have that item afterward, the rebellion will be very little and your weight loss will begin with a jumpstart.
