Eliminating Fear and Guilt

Fear of the unknown, such as the results of what may happen from being late for work, taking a test, or giving a business presentation, can create stress. Receiving a bill that may be larger than you can presently handle can also cause undue stress. Fear, in many cases, takes on a life of its own.

The Boogieman or Shadows of Fear

Sometimes fear disguises itself as the boogieman hiding in the closet or scary shadows against the wall. The fear that you have is an illusion and in many cases is something that will never even take place. It is a scenario that has played in your mind of what could happen, not what is happening. It is a projection.

Focusing on the present is a great solution in these cases. Instead of fearing what could happen, such as if you do not have the money to pay for that upcoming bill, focus on what is happening right now. Right now you are safe, comfortable, have food to eat, and a place to stay.

Life is okay at this moment, and much can happen before the specific time of reckoning to change it. An unexpected check can come in, or you can receive a bonus at work, make a sale of a product, or even make payment arrangements with the bill collector.

To eliminate the shadow that is haunting you, think of your fear as an illusion, which you can dismiss by thinking of the present. It's as easy as turning on the light switch to eliminate a shadow.

Essential

One way to eliminate stress is to describe out loud in as much detail as possible a picture that you are looking at. Do it as if you were describing it to someone over the phone who was trying to recreate it perfectly. This exercise requires you to concentrate on the present task at hand and will eliminate your stress.

The Infection of Guilt

Guilt is an issue from the past that can hinder your progress in moving ahead. Guilt acts more as an infection in life rather than an emotion. Having guilt hinders the feeling of emotions such as love, happiness, or excitement. Many times it leaves you feeling empty.

Guilt arises due to the result of making a decision. One of the ways to alleviate guilt is to think back to the decision you made that created the guilt. Once you have determined the cause, simply decide to undecide. Rethink the decision you made and examine the reasons why you came to that specific conclusion and then correct them.
