Ten Questions to Determine Your Mindset

This is a test that can be used to determine whether you respond better to analytical or nonanalytical suggestions. People think differently, and they are also hypnotized differently. By answering the following ten questions, you will learn the best type of session to utilize for your self-hypnosis. Read the following questions and write your answers on a separate piece of paper.

  • On your day off, do you prefer relaxing more than keeping busy at home?

  • Do you prefer relaxing at the beach more than catching up on home-improvement projects?

  • When working at home, do you prefer enjoyable music in the background?

  • Do you like to have your favorite refreshment nearby while you are working?

  • While attending a party at a friend's house, do you prefer to sit back and enjoy yourself more than helping out in the kitchen keeping busy?

  • Do you usually enjoy yourself while you work rather than totally concentrating on the job at hand?

  • If you were busy at home and the phone rang, would you answer it immediately even if you have an answering machine?

  • When you have five to six jobs to complete, are you likely to take a short break between them?

  • At the end of your workday, are you more likely to relax rather than find something to do around the house?

  • When making your bed, are you more likely to fluff the pillows and align your belongings in a pleasant manner rather than just getting it done?

Take a moment now to add up your YES and NO responses. If your total includes seven or more YES responses, then you would most likely respond better to a nonanalytical session. If your total includes three or fewer YES responses, then you would most likely respond better to an analytical session in which you would keep your mind busy or distracted while doing something else.
