Dreaming Big

You've decided to move out of your comfort zone. You've made a personal commitment to your growth and your future. You've looked at your life and identified your fears and anxieties and are ready to do some risk taking.

One of the first ways to begin your new journey is to answer this question: “If I had nothing to lose, what would I do?” That's a powerful question but one that begs an answer.

What is the biggest thing you have ever dreamed of doing? Did you want to be a Broadway star? Did you want to write a bestselling novel? Did you want to be onstage singing a love ballad to thousands of adoring fans? Did you want to climb Mt. Everest? Did you want to become a space shuttle astronaut? What was it? Most importantly, however, why did the dream die? Was it fear? Was it the inability to take a risk? Was it anxiety over the future? What took the dream away?

What is your big dream? What is that innate destiny that has called you for years? As you think about this, remember, big is an opinion. Big is in the eye of the beholder. Big is personal. For the next few moments, stop reading this book. Keep the book open and just turn it upside down in your lap while you think about these questions.

What came to your mind? Before you go any further, write this big dream down. Scribble it on the side of this page, or in the back of the book, or on a paper towel. Just write it down.

As you begin to move beyond your comfort zone and take more chances with your life, take this dream out. Wash it off. Blow off the dust and look at it again. Hold it. Caress it. Feel it. Kiss it. Yell at it if you must, but let this dream become a part of your plan. Let this dream help you move beyond your comfort zone. Let this dream live again.
