Over the years, superstitious and legendary elements have been incorporated into some of the saints' lives. It also seems that some of the saints who have been loved for centuries may not actually have existed. This chapter will explore the “back stories” related to some of the saints who no longer occupy a prominent place in the Roman Catholic Church calendar, whether because their stories were disproved or because it was decided that there wasn't enough evidence to support them.
