The theme of spiritual friendship is woven through both the Old and New Testaments. Although some saints lived solitary lives, others were deeply engaged in communities. These saints were able to form bonds with others that were lasting and intimate. This chapter will explore the relationships of “companion saints” — holy ones who became bolder and more saintly through their close ties with others.
