Saints for Their Times

Away from their immediate sphere of influence, neither Bishop Neumann nor Mother Cabrini is very well known in this country. Their work took place at a time when the United States was receiving a great number of immigrants from Europe. Both Bishop Neumann and Mother Cabrini were instrumental in organizing those waves of newcomers and providing services for them that are, in many cases, still in existence today. The time was right for their unique energy and talents.
