By the 1960s, rock-n-roll began to mature and grow into a well-defined style. Blues, R&B, and country music still influenced this new sound, but the end result was wholly rock. In fact, the full name rock-n-roll was eventually dropped as new artists sought to distance themselves from the first wave of rock-n-rollers. Nothing epitomized this better than the British Invasion, which was jump-started by the Beatles in 1964.
