The Blues Chords
The blues also frequently uses dominant seventh chords in place of the normal major triads. Instead of C, F, G, for a C blues, you can use C7, F7, G7. FIGURE 8-14 is an example of a twelve-bar blues using dominant seventh chords.
In blues, only dominant seventh chords work; major sevenths sound very strange and out of place. Try incorporating these new chords into your blues playing to spice up your rhythm playing.
