In-n-Out Double-Double Burger

Give this recipe a try—it will become one of your favorite ways to prepare a hamburger.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 1

  • 1 plain hamburger bun
  • 1/3 pound ground beef
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Thousand Island salad dressing
  • 1 slice fresh tomato
  • 1 lettuce leaf
  • 1 thin slice of onion
  1. Preheat a frying pan or the grill. Lightly toast both halves of the hamburger bun and set aside.

  2. Divide the beef into 2 even portions and form into patties. Season the patties with salt and pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side.

  3. Place a slice of cheese on each hamburger patty and melt the cheese.

  4. Assemble from bottom to top: bun, salad dressing, tomato, lettuce, burger, onion, burger, and then bun top.
